Brilliant two weekends participating in the Catford Arts Trail! We had over 140 visitors during the two weekends which was exhilarating and great to meet a whole lot of lovely people. Pictured below is Anthony a neighbour posing with his portrait and artist. He very kindly lent me the portrait I did of him a year or so ago for the exhibition.
Getting ready for the Catford Arts Trail which starts tomorrow. I have not participated in an exhibition before and can now say "it's a lot of work". To the casual observer it doesn't look like there is much behind the order and arrangement, but believe me, there is. And my show is small fry compared to some.
It started with the decision to frame the work I wanted to show. The paintings were framed by the marvellous David Mitchell in Lewisham and for the drawings I ordered frames and mounts from Best4Frames who provided a fantastic service. Looking forward to the next two weekends! Then in the last couple of days I have been busy with tape measure, calculator, hammer and picture hooks to get the display in position and looking neat.
Hope to see lots of people, so come and enjoy the arts trail.
Spent a few days in Porto and found a bit of time to sketch. This is the principle facade of Igreja de Santo Ildefonso, 278 years old this year. The facade is tiled in decorative blue and white Azulejo ceramic tiles, creating bold and large scale patterns. I was not able to capture this in my quick and unfinished sketch.
